Lady Bird Johnson

just finished the article in todays paper about the funeral services for Lady Bird Johnson. Many memories come flooding back at just the mention of her name.Flowers certainly, the devastating events in Texas surrounding Kennedy, her husbands politics, the beagles and their ears, the tumultuous times. But upon reading the article, seeing who was in attendance~Bill Moyers gave the eulogy~The Carters,Nancy Reagan,Laura Bush,The Clinton's,The Schlossberg's,Mrs Barbara Bush,Susan Ford Bales,Governor Perry and wife,Tricia Nixon Cox and husband, and Maria Shriver wonder and pride fell over me.What a club was my first thought. Then what a country was my second thought.Only in America do we see these kinds of things.Lefties,Righties, sons and daughters of the powerful, seekers of power and those who once held it, gathered together to pay their respects.

We have much to be ashamed of in this country. But on days such as this we have much to be proud of In the words of Bill Moyers"Yes, she planted flowers. She also loved democracy and saw a beauty in it" Here here!

May you rest in Peace Lady Bird.
